BREADTH OF TRAINING
The Carrington Hollywood Academy offers full dance training for both girls and boys from the age of 3 to 18. Lessons are given, (group or individual) in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap.
Examinations are held, with the Royal Academy of Dancing and The Imperial society of Teachers of Dance for Major Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap.
For over 18s we offer part-time teaching courses in RAD Ballet (CBTS) and ISTD Modern & Tap (FDI & CDE).
The School employs a pianist and fully qualified teaching professional staff.
Students are encouraged to combine their involvement in dance with their academic studies and if talented, auditions are arranged for top Ballet Schools, Royal Ballet Asssociate courses and Theatre Performing arts colleges. Indeed many ex students have now graduated and are enjoying successful dance and teaching careers.

Rachel trained at The Hollywood Dance Academy with Janne Carrington and as a child Rachel performed all over Poole and Bournemouth for shows, events and birthdays at the B.I.C, Royal Bath and Pavilion. Summer holidays and half-terms were spent taking dance workshops, performance summer schools and singing lessons. Her favourite workshop to date was with Wayne Sleep who inspired her love of Jazz dance. At 18 Rachel gained a full scholarship to Bodywork Dance Company, Cambridge. She graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre and also won the award for most outstanding Musical theatre Student of the 2011 graduating class.
After graduating Rachel danced in many Bollywood Films such as ‘Jabtaka Juan’ and danced for corporate events all over London. Rachel was then successful enough to gain a job dancing on American ships and in 2012 flew to L.A to begin working for ‘Princess Cruises’. She loved every second of dancing, performing and sailing and was with the company for over four years.
Rachel is so honoured to be back home where it all started for her teaching at the acclaimed Carrington Hollywood Academy of Dance.
As the daughter of a professional dancer, Elli had dance running through her blood before she was even born. Aged 2, Elli began her dance training with Janne Carrington at the Carrington Hollywood Academy of Dance and excelled through the grades, continually achieving some of the highest marks in RAD ballet and STD Tap and Modern. Elli not only performed in the bi-annual school productions in principal parts from a very young age, but regularly auditioned and was successful in securing roles in pantomimes, musicals and other dance shows. She also participated in many external dance workshops as a member of Bournemouth Ballet. Elli was selected to perform ballet solos for Bournemouth University?s costume showcases and successfully performed in many Dance Festivals winning numerous trophies and medals.
With a daughter of her own now training at the Carrington Hollywood Academy of Dance, Elli is thrilled to be back and now regularly teaches at the main school as a supply teacher and is part of our performance team supporting with our various shows in all aspects from costume design to choreography.
Elli is passionate about making classes fun and enjoyable whilst ensuring children learn correct technique from a young age. Elli is delighted to be taking over the teaching role at Park School, Bournemouth under the umbrella of The Hollywood Dance Academy.
Tara Daisy Valentine
Miss Tara joins the team at Hollywood Academy of Dance to offer ‘Street’ and ‘Commercial’ classes!
Tara has worked as a professional dancer and teacher for the last 7 years and has enjoyed a successful career to date working all over the world with backgrounds in tv, stage and film.
Originally from Cambridge, Tara studied at Bodywork Theatre School before working in London and only recently moving to the South Coast.
Tara has worked for Universal, Warner Bros, XFactor, Sadlers Wells, Bourne Leisure & SBTV amongst many others. She has also taught for many leading stage schools such as Pauline Quirk Academy, KD Theatre, Theatre Train, Stagecoach and most recently teaching a successful stage academy for TUI’s 5 star resort in Rhodes, coming first in the world for customer satisfaction reviews.
“Street dance has always been my number one passion and my favourite is to teach the next generation, having been a part of a dance crew until the age of 19 and performing at competitions such as the UDO World Championships. I am very excited to be joining the team at Hollywood Dance Academy and can’t wait to teach a new style of dance to all of the students :)”
Marianne Teconi AISTD – Salsa / Latin Tutor
Marianne is an Associate of the ISTD. She first studied Tap and Singing at a School in Caerphilly later adding Ballroom and Latin to her repertoire. After many years of performing on stage and competing Marianne began teaching at several local schools. Her formation team being undefeated in the Regional Medallist Competitions. In 2006 Marianne joined the teaching staff at Hollywood Dance Academy and teaches Salsa, other Latin Styles in Bachata, Meringue, Cha cha and Jive.. She travels extensively around Dorset taking workshops in all of the above dance genres and making costumes for Shows keeps her very busy indeed.
Corinne Rigler ALCM
Corinne took up the piano at the tender age of 8 years old. She studied at The London College of Music. Although classically trained Corinne is involved in most genres of music. She is delighted to have been the accompanist for The Hollywood Dance Academy for almost 40 years. Corinne is also resident pianist for 2 local Musical Theatre Companies.
Josh Piper RAD/ISTD Teaching Professional
Josh trained at The Hollywood Dance Academy and has since graduated from a 3 Year Musical Theatre Diploma Course from Performers College, London. He has danced professional appearing in the Christmas Shows at Eastbourne, Cromer Pier Summer Show, The Royal Caribbean Cruise. When not touring Josh takes workshops in Jazz/Commercial.
